I always knew something was different about me, but I didn’t realize it was ADHD until my late twenties. Growing up, I struggled with focus—bouncing between hobbies, forgetting deadlines, and never quite finishing what I started. As an adult, it only got worse. I kept switching jobs because I couldn’t keep up, and I lost friends and relationships because I was always late or forgetting plans. Things finally fell apart when I lost my job and my girlfriend in the same week. I felt stuck, overwhelmed, and honestly, I thought I was just bad at life. That’s when I decided to give therapy a try.

Speaking up was a game-changer. My therapist helped me understand how ADHD affects not just my attention but also my emotions and routines. She taught me practical tools—like breaking tasks into small steps and setting reminders—and I started taking medication, which made a huge difference in my focus. It’s been a year now, and while I still have hard days, I finally feel in control. I’ve found a job that fits my strengths, built closer friendships, and learned how to be kinder to myself. ADHD is still part of me, but it doesn’t define me anymore. For the first time, I feel hopeful about the future, knowing I have the tools to handle whatever life throws my way.
